Our proposal for the 2 Park Street project reimagines the public lobbies and common areas of a prominent tower in the centre of Sydney. Our design seeks to activate new frontages to both George Street and Park Street, in anticipation of the future construction of town hall square adjacent to the site. Internally, visual clutter is removed and new retail arrangements for food and beverage are incorporated to animate the space. Verticality and light-play are amplified by the use of expansive mirrored surfaces to upper level ceiling areas. Backlit cast glass is used to clad columns and core walls, creating a dramatic, almost cinematic quality to the resulting space. The lobby is further animated by an LED video wall, used for a commissioned digital artwork or bookable as a presentation tool for the anchor tenant – an American multinational technology company focusing on e-commerce, cloud computing, online advertising, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence.
