The Squire’s Landing, the flagship James Squire restaurant, bar and microbrewery is housed within Tenancy 5 at the iconic Overseas Passenger Terminal on the western harbour edge of Circular Quay.
The design includes a freestanding fully glazed working microbrewery that brews limited release beers for sale exclusively at the venue. Elevated to maintain public access and views toward the World Heritage-listed Opera House and Campbell’s Cove precinct beyond, the microbrewery pod provides a new visual focus at the site and celebrates the art of the master brewers in the heart of one of Australia’s most significant historic precincts.
The project includes the creation of additional external decks and terraces to increase the amount of external area for open-air dining with views to the harbour, Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
Internally, the original structural steel detailing of the 1988 Lawrence Nield and Peter Tonkin renovation is maintained and expressed. Complementing this a palette of warm natural materials including reclaimed spotted gum, copper and zinc that together create a series of warm, convivial spaces for the enjoyment of a diverse food offering focusing on NSW sourced ingredients, along with the wide range of beers and ciders brewed under the James Squire brand.
